DASAN introduces MEF CE 2.0 certified Mobile Backhaul products to compete in global market
07/04/2016 | By NETMANIAS (tech@netmanias.com)

DASAN Networks (CEO, MinWoo Nam) announced that they have developed new Carrier Ethernet based Mobile Backhaul solutions and acquired CE 2.0 certifications for two Mobile Backhaul products from MEF(Metro Ethernet Forum), a global Carrier Ethernet standardization organization.

By acquiring the certification, DASAN Networks is expected to further accelerate its global market expansion as MEF CE 2.0 certification is one of the requirements from major global operators.

Mobile Backhaul product transfers data traffic from radio base stations through wireline. As mobile data usage grows rapidly, mobile backhaul is getting more spotlights as a next-generation product, creating an 8.5 billion dollar (Y2015) market.

DASAN Networks has been recognized its technical excellence by supplying Mobile Backhaul products to SoftBank in Japan since 2009. DASAN is now preparing to supply new Carrier Ethernet based mobile backhaul products to Japan and USA.

Carrier Ethernet is an All-IP based technology for broadband services that extends from Ethernet technology which has cost-efficiency but suits for short-distance network. Global operators are adopting Carrier Ethernet in order to accommodate the recently increasing data traffic.

CE 2.0 is an international standardization certification program for Carrier Ethernet based high quality service. CE 2.0 has 634 test items and only about 50 global telecom vendors including Cisco, Huawei, Nokia acquired the certifications.

Along with CE 2.0 certifications, DASAN Networks is actively taking part in the international standardization program in order to keep up with a global market expansion, including BBF.247, a global standardization certification for GPON ONU from Broadband Forum.

DASAN Networks will be showcasing its CE 2.0 certified Mobile Backhaul products (M1200, M2400) at Mobile World Congress Shanghai from 29 June to 1 July 2016 in Shanghai. (DASAN Networks stands: N2.C51-d).

Mr. Daniel Won, President in Global Business Division of DASAN Network Solutions, said “By acquiring the MEF CE 2.0 certifications, DASAN has been recognized its ability to provide standardized services for global operators along with its technical excellence. We will keep on leveraging our global business opportunities by developing more advanced technologies and next-generation universal products.”
