미국에서는 2020년 이통사의 B2C용 공중 4G/5G망 면허 주파수와 무관한 기업용 사설 주파수로 3.55-3.7GHz의 CBRSCitizens Broadband Radio Service 주파수가 개방되었다(이 주파수 대역중 PAL 주파수는 면허 획득 필요하며 유료이고 GAA 주파수는 와이파이처럼 면허 획득이 불필요하며 무료이다).
미국에서는 2020년부터 2022년까지는 이 CBRS 주파수를 이용해 Private 4G LTE망이 활발히 구축되었으며, 2023년부터는 CBRS 주파수를 이용한 Private 5G망이 구축되기 시작했다.
본 원샷에서는 미국의 CBRS 주파수 기반 Private 4G/5G망 구축 사례를 살펴보자.
* B2C 서비스 중심인 이통사의 경우, 5G 망 구축과 5G 기반 서비스 출시 등은 이통사와 벤더가 신속하게 보도자료 등을 통해 공개하고 있으나, 민간 기업을 대상으로 하는 Private 4G/5G는 대부분의 경우 언론에 공개하지 않고 있다. 여기서 조사한 미국 Private 4G/5G망 도입 사례는 언론에 공개된 케이스에 한한 것이며, 실제로는 이보다 훨씬 많은 Private 4G/5G망 도입이 진행되고 있다.
