MultiService Provisioning Platform (MSPP)
MSPP vendors are basically using two different approachesto address SONET\'s data shortcomings:
First, implement full SONET, with added statistical multiplexing. Chromatis, Cisco, Cyras, Geyser, Mayan, Siara, and Sirocco take this tack. (Just to make things more complicated, Geyser, Siara, and Sirocco also support the full version of SDH [synchronous digital hierarchy], the European derivation of SONET).
Second, use a slimmed-down version of SONET. Alidian, Appian, Astral Point, and Net Insight support so-called SONET lite.
