What is Dynamic Path Control?
Dynamic Path Control (DPC) is a Silver Peak feature that gives organizations the ability to intelligently route applications over multiple WAN links, including the Internet. Using the Internet for sensitive enterprise traffic has historically raised security and performance concerns for many IT professionals.
Silver Peak addresses those concerns by encapsulating transmitted data within AES-encrypted, IPsec tunnels. Data-atrest within the Silver Peak appliance is also encrypted with AES. DPC also uses real-time information about the state of each tunnel to direct traffic in a variety of ways. For example, DPC makes it easy to direct real-time traffic, such as voice or video, towards the connection with the least packet loss or latency. With network conditions constantly changing and fluctuating over time, the path with the least loss or latency may not always be across the same link. DPC can account for latency, packet loss, and throughput utilization to make intelligent routing decisions for any application on the WAN.
