The Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of leading global companies deploying Z-Wave, the world’s largest ecosystem of wireless control products and services, is pleased to announce that LG Uplus has become a Principal Member of the Alliance and has joined its Board of Directors.

lguplusLG Uplus, Korea’s leading telecommunications operator and an affiliate of LG Group, provides diverse and comprehensive wireline and wireless convergence services for home and personal services. The company was formed through the strategic merging of LG Telecom, LG Dacom, and LG Powercom, which together now operate as LG Uplus. LG Uplus joins an impressive list of industry leaders on the Z-Wave Alliance Board of Directors, including ADT, Evolve Guest Controls, FAKRO, Ingersoll-Rand, Jasco Products, Linear, and Sigma Designs.

“We’re excited to welcome LG Uplus to the Z-Wave Alliance and its Board of Directors,” said Alliance Chairman Mark Walters. “Since its inception, the company has been an outstanding force for innovation, having deployed Korea’s first nationwide 4G LTE and All-IP network. Now, LG Uplus recognizes the rapidly growing opportunities available in the IoT and smart home markets, where Z-Wave is the leading technology. We welcome the insight and leadership LG Uplus will bring to our Board.”

Other Z-Wave Alliance members were equally enthusiastic about the addition of LG Uplus to the Board.

“The reputation of LG Uplus in the telecommunications arena is stellar,” said Avi Rosenthal, VP of VP Security and Control at Linear Corporation, another Principal and Board Member of the Alliance. “Their addition to our Board gives Z-Wave another strong advocate and a voice that will be instrumental in helping us achieve our primary objective: to ensure that Z-Wave maintains and enhances its smart-home leadership.”

“LG Uplus is honored to join the Z-Wave Board of Directors,” said Mr. ChangSu Ryu, the company’s Home Solution Department Director. “Z-Wave is the leading wireless home control technology in the market today. We believe strongly in the technology and are confident that it will continue to lead the way in smart home innovation, not just with consumers but with service providers, device manufacturers, and retailers. Joining the Board of Directors will allow us to provide input and feedback that will help keep Z-Wave at the forefront of the industry.”
