Robot to be connected to the cloud by 5G at Naver's second office building
Naver Cloud (CEO Park Won-gi) announced on the 24th that it has completed a frequency application for the ‘Private 5G frequency allocation for 5G mobile communication’ announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT).
Private 5G network refers to a customized network specialized for services that companies want to introduce in a specific space (buildings, facilities, places, etc.) through the private 5G of frequency, not the existing mobile communication network, using 5G communication technology.
It has the advantage of being able to build a network environment that is optimized for a specific environment, purpose, and scope, and can be widely used in various fields such as smart cities. NAVER LABS, which is developing cutting-edge technologies in various fields such as brainless robot technology based on 5G technology, plans to use the private 5G network for robot service in the second office building, which is scheduled to open next year.
In order for the cloud to operate stably as the robot's brain, 5G communication, which provides ultra-high speed, ultra-low latency, and ultra-connectivity, is essential.
Accordingly, NAVER CLOUD, which will be responsible for the application of cloud infrastructure and AI in the second office building, and operation of 5G brainless robot technology, decided that 5G is the optimal choice for robot-to-cloud communication and applied for frequency allocation for 5G-specialized networks announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Naver Cloud applied for both the 4.7GHz band and the 28GHz band allocated as a private 5G network, and plans to build a base station for the private 5G network in Naver's second office building after the frequency allocation is completed.
When the frequency allocation for the private 5G network is completed, Naver's second office building will be the first in Korea to be equipped with a private 5G network and be positioned as a robot-friendly building.
NAVER CLOUD will not only lay a solid foundation to lead smart building and digital twin technologies, but also expand its RaaS (Robot as a Service) business to various industries such as construction, hospital, office, and transportation based on stable robot service operation. plan.
Park Won-ki, CEO of Naver Cloud, said, "Naver Cloud already has rich network service operation experience, such as providing wired and wireless networks to Naver affiliates. We will support enterprises to achieve digital transformation through the combination of 5G and cloud.”
They will have incredible success all over the world.
