Samsung Showcases CognitiV NOS Copilot on AWS Cloud at Mobile World Congress 2025
03/03/2025

Samsung demonstrates how AI can be applied to radio access networks to drive meaningful impact with AWS

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced a joint demonstration of Samsung CognitiV Network Operations Suite (NOS) Copilot, an evolved AI assistant within Samsung’s automation platform, with Amazon Web Services (AWS) at Mobile World Congress (MWC). Using Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers the easiest way to build and scale generative AI applications, Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot showcases how AI can simplify and optimize the management of large-scale and complex radio access networks (RAN).

Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot for Smarter Network Management

Samsung CognitiV NOS is a set of diverse AI-powered network automation applications, providing lifecycle management of the network from planning, deployment, operation to optimization. As part of this solution, Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot, is an AI assistant that harnesses these applications to streamline the intricate process of executing operators' intentions. This “assistant-like” platform offers an intuitive interface for operators, presenting data in a clear, readable format, and explains its significance in simple terms. By leveraging high-performance large language models (LLMs) and vectorization technology, the tool translates raw data into tangible insights, enabling operators to easily assess network conditions and apply necessary changes. With timely, contextualized information, operators can make informed decisions without the need for extensive expertise.

Seamlessly integrated into the existing RAN systems, Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot can communicate in natural language to support operators as they manage their networks, alleviating some of the challenges that come with technical complexities. Moreover, it offers versatile deployment options, operating efficiently on-premises or across various cloud platforms, including Amazon Bedrock. Its advanced analysis and troubleshooting capabilities help detect abnormalities and issues in the network, drawing a clear connection between raw data and data synthesis. With the actionable explanations and technical summaries, operators will be able to leverage deeper insights to inform how they manage their network environments, allowing for ease and increased efficiency.

Samsung and AWS Demo in Barcelona

At its booth during MWC 2025, Samsung will showcase the capabilities of Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot. By collaborating with AWS and tapping into their resilient and secure global infrastructure, the solution offers seamless scalability, performance, and reliability.

During the demonstration, the companies will show how Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot leverages a diverse range of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances tailored for different workloads and scalable storage services. The solution is equipped with generative AI capabilities, using Amazon Bedrock and its access to foundation models (FMs) from leading AI providers. To support efficient data management, the solution utilizes Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) with intelligent tiering, optimizing costs while ensuring seamless access to necessary data. Additionally, Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), a fully managed platform, streamlines deployment and simplifies operation across AWS cloud environments.

Future Collaboration with Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot

Samsung is committed to driving innovation in Radio Intelligent Controller (RIC) capabilities and exploring opportunities by integrating advanced machine learning services to address the growing demands of O-RAN compliant networks. Recognizing the critical role of AI/ML in RIC applications, Samsung is extending RIC by exploring and harnessing machine learning services in the industry to deliver a comprehensive suite of AI/ML capabilities.

For example, Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot can leverage services like Amazon SageMaker for MLOps. These tools support AI development across the entire machine learning lifecycle, ensuring seamless and scalable integration. Samsung’s expertise drives AI performance by selecting optimal models and datasets to address real-world challenges.

“AI is more than a buzzword these days and it’s an applicable technology that we are seeing change every industry,” said Deokwoo Jung, Vice President and Head of Network AI, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics. “In collaboration with our industry-leading partners like AWS, we are realizing the true benefits of AI for telco networks to drive meaningful change for our operator customers. As a leader in telco innovation, we are excited for the future impact of AI.”

“We are excited to collaborate with Samsung to bring the power of the cloud to the next generation of network management,” said Kee Ho Ham, managing director of AWS Korea. “By leveraging Amazon Bedrock, operators can harness the power of AI to build smarter, more efficient networks while reducing complexity and operational costs.”

Samsung and AWS expect future networks to evolve towards being truly autonomous, enabled by technical and foundational basis behind the envisioned Samsung CognitiV NOS Copilot enhancements.
