KT is to share some of its newest technologies with the world at MWC. KT (Chairman Chang-gyu Hwang, www.kt.com) announced today that it will be showcasing 'Life Innovation by 5G' at ‘Mobile World Congress 2015 (MWC 2015)’, the world greatest mobile event to be held in Barcelona, Spain from March 2rd through 5th.
KT, one of the world's leading next-generation network operators, will have a chance to reaffirm South Korea's competitiveness in communication technology through demonstrations of the hottest 5G technologies at its GSMA showroom, ‘GSMA Innovation City'. The showroom will feature three zones: 5G Infra, 5G Access and GiGAtopia.
‘5G Infra’ zone will present ‘10GiGA Internet’, one of the key underlying technologies in 5G, and ‘5G Ultra-Dense Network’, a next-generation cellular network technology that supports uninterrupted seamless network service even in cell edges as well as areas with high mobile traffic such as concert halls, hotspots in downtown areas, etc.
‘5G Access’ zone will feature a variety of 5G-related new technologies, such as using the existent Wi-Fi frequency bands for LTE purpose as well, and achieving 1Gbps via 9-band carrier aggregation.
Also, KT will show at the zone how this new 5G will bring changes in our everyday life. It will be providing an example of a virtuous circle where an improvement in network technologies leads to improvements in culture by presenting an ultra-high capacity hologram transmission between smartphones at a speed of up to 7.55Gbps.
Finally, ‘GiGAtopia’ zone will feature different GiGA infra-based IoT services, such as GiGA home (door lock, smart mirror), GiGA shop (personalized ad, mobile payment), GiGA school, etc.
Chairman Chang-gyu Hwang will be giving a keynote speech on 'The Road to 5G' on March 3rd at the event. Through the speech, he plans to highlight the necessity of ultra-low latency, ultra-high capacity networks, and also present the future network vision to be realized through 5G commercialization and IoT technology innovation.
