Samsung Electronics demonstrated world’s first public safety communication net based on Public Safety Long Term Evolution (PS-LTE) and introduced communication equipments at Samsung Digital City on the 1st.

Samsung Electronics built actual communication network in Digital City, and demonstrated communication between central control center and scene of a disaster by setting a fake disaster situation.

It introduced Push To Talk (PTT) technology that allows to rapidly call many people at once. It also introduced ‘eMBMS’ technology that transfers HD images to many communication terminals even when crowd is presented at a disaster area. Lastly it introduced D2D (Device to Device) technology that supports communication between units even when base station is destroyed by a disaster.

Smartphone terminal for disaster that Samsung Electronics also introduced can provide stable service during extreme situation because it has IP67-level waterproof and dust protection functions. IP67-level can support flooding for 30 minutes under 1 meter of water.

Samsung electronics demonstrated as the worlds first in just 3 months from establish PS-LTE standard technology.

“This was possible Samsung Electronics because it possesses important technologies and variety portfolios that are related to public safety communication net such as chip set, terminal, communication equipment, and service application. We actively participated in standardizing PS-LTE.” A person related to Samsung Electronics explained how Samsung was able to succeed in such feat.

Samsung Electronics is putting a lot of effort along with small businesses to build a construction business of public safety communication net system. On the 14th of May, Samsung Electronics made an agreement ceremony in Digital City with 15 Korean small cooperative companies for public safety communication net business.

“As a part of Korea’s member, Samsung Electronics is taking responsibility in public safety communication net business. We are going to keep on doing our best to successfully build public safety communication net by pioneering international standard and technologies that are related to public safety net.” President Kim Young Ki of Samsung Electronics’ network department said that Samsung Electronics will keep on focusing on public safety communication net.
