On July 15, LG U+ was awarded for its contribution in development of LTE-based interconnected VoLTE service at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2015.
LG U+, Korea's largest VoLTE service provider, has provided VoLTE service to its LTE subsribers since 2012, and now is offering HD Voice service to its 7 million subscribers in the nation.
The company also has over 3 million users subscribing to Uwa, which features HD voice calls, the highlight of the VoLTE service, and All-IP communication service that allows users to answer calls while still using the Internet or watching videos.
In order to make its LTE-A network more reliable, LG U+ has commercialized technologies like the world's best performing Cloud Digital Unit (DU), CA coverage expansion, Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP, inter-cell coordination), and Single Frequency Network (SFN, multiple cells work as one cell).
As a result of such efforts, LG U+ could establish secure foundation for reliable and seamless provision of VoLTE service, and could also launch the world's first VoLTE roaming in cooperation with Japan's KDDI, steadily setting global standards for VoLTE.
Mr. Sun-tae Kim, Executive Vice President of the company said, "It is a great honor that LG U+'s excellent network system has been recognized at the MWC." He added, "We will continue to endeavor to be a global leader who can bring best value to customers."
