KT announced last week that it will be offering 'Wi-Fi roaming' service 'at all time and at no charge' to its customers who travel in Japan and China.
Back in May, the company had officially proposed such plan to China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo at a general meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement (SCFA). Now, with this partnership, KT customers can have Wi-Fi access via China Mobile's network in China and via NTT DoCoMo's in Japan - all with no extra sign-up process or charges.
KT customers can use the new ‘Wi-Fi roaming’ service simply by completing a one-time registration process - no need to enter additional ID or password. They can select any Wi-Fi AP that the two partners are offering in their country, and gain Wi-Fi access just like they normally do in South Korea.
A KT official in charge of wireless service noted, "The new free Wi-Fi roaming service is offered through strategic cooperation with our partners, NTT DoCoMo and Mobile China. The new service will help our customers enjoy our service at lower costs even when traveling." He added "We will continue our effort to make the service available in more countries."
