South Korea to invest $1.46 billion (KRW 1.6 trillion) in nine government-led R&D projects, including AI, VR/AR, self-driving vehicle

At the 2nd ‘Scientific Technology Strategy Meeting’ held at the Blue House, the South Korean government selected nine government-led R&D projects:
- Five projects for discovering new growth engine: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality (VR/AR), Self-driving vehicle, Light material and Smart city
- Four projects for better quality of life: Precision medicine, New bio-medicine, Utilization of carbon and Fine dust
For the projects, about $1.46 billion (KRW 1.6 trillion) will be invested over the next 10 years. Additional investment of $90 million (KRW 615 billion) will be made from the private sector.
